Jimmy Hedges has worn many hats throughout his blessed and colorful life. As well as being a father of three and good friend to many, Jimmy Hedges is also an accomplished wood carver / sculptor, highly regarded Folk Art / Americana dealer and appraiser for 20 years and just recently tackled writing. Some of his previous writing experience includes an earlier edition of this cookbook for Catherine Brown along with an exhibit catalog for Miami Outsider artist Purvis Young.

One of Jimmy's strengths as an art dealer is his genuine caring and therefore nurturing nature that he extends to all of the artists he encounters and works with. Jimmy is equally, if not more, inspired and interested in the artists as he is their work. By taking the time to get to know and assisting all of the artists whose work he deals in has earned Jimmy Hedges a special place in the hearts of this genre's greats. In turn, Jimmy Hedges has been inspired in his own artwork and life by the likes of the late Bessie Harvey and Homer Green. A self-taught wood carver himself, Jimmy Hedges has been carving for over 25 years. His style has developed from a hobbyist's attitude to carving songbirds and other wildlife to making political and social statements through representational carvings of newsworthy figures. Today, working with primarily a chainsaw, Jimmy likes to focus on moments and people he's encountered which left an everlasting impression such as a north Alabama snake handler or the counter help at Tuscaloosa's famous Dreamland Barbecue.

Jimmy Hedges, owner of Rising Fawn Folk Art Gallery, invites you to visit the gallery any time you're near Chattanooga, TN. We're located atop beautiful Lookout Mountain, about 30 minutes from Chattanooga, and about 15 minutes from the Trenton, GA exit on I-59. Y'all come!
